Drawings: Fresco Mementos
The drawings, using images of early renaissance frescoes, are embellished and altered with stitching.
The pieces are post card sized mementos that refer to the past when, as the norm, women were taught to sew or cook and weren't meant to be painters.
The pieces also reference the process of sketches used in fresco design, the comfort of recognizing an art work first known through reproductions, the idea that memories change and over time become something new, and the nostalgia of childhood sewing cards.
